Protective circuit

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective circuit that can be manufactured at a low cost using common protective element without relying on an electric current rating and a voltage rating of a battery pack, in a protective circuit for protecting a battery pack from overcurrent and overvoltage using a protective element having a resistance heating element and a fuse element on a substrate, and a detection means. SOLUTION: A protective circuit for protecting a battery pack in which secondary batteries are connected in series from overcurrent and overvoltage, has a protective element having a heating resistance element and a fuse element on a substrate, and a detection means for detecting overvoltage and switching an electric current flowing through the heating resistance element. The protective elements are connected in plural and in parallel. A fuse element is blown out in each protective element during overcurrent, as well as the heating resistance element of each protective element is subjected to generation of heat by electric current flowing through the heating resistance element of each protective resistance element being switched on by the detection means during overvoltage, and consequently the fuse element is blown out. 【課題】基板上に抵抗発熱体とヒューズエレメントを設けた保護素子、及び検知手段を用いて、過電流と過電圧から電池パックを保護する保護回路において、電池パックの電流定格や電圧定格によらず、共通の保護素子を使用して低コストに製造できる保護回路を提供する。 【解決手段】二次電池が直列に接続された電池パックを過電流と過電圧から保護する保護回路は、基板上に発熱抵抗体とヒューズエレメントを設けた保護素子、及び過電圧を検出し該発熱抵抗体に流れる電流をスイッチする検知手段を有する。保護素子は、並列に複数接続されている。過電流時に各保護素子においてヒューズエレメントが溶断されると共に、過電圧時に検知手段によって各保護素子の発熱抵抗体に流れる電流がスイッチオンすることにより、各保護素子の発熱抵抗体が発熱し、ヒューズエレメントが溶断する。 【選択図】図4
